Sparkly Holiday Costume Showcase 2015

Merry Christmas!

I hope you are having a wonderful day with your loved ones.

I’m just finishing up the last bit of work here then heading off to my fiance’s parents’ place for dinner. It’ll be a good time 🙂

Before I go, I want to quickly share with you some photos.

I often receive photos of beautiful creations by dancers, and I’ve really wanted to share them with you.

So today I’m going to share with you a showcase of the costumes that Sparkly Belly readers have created for their holiday performances.

If you get inspired to create your own – maybe during the quiet times this holiday season – I have links to relevant tutorials below the photos 😉

Enjoy!

Sparkly Belly Holiday Costume Showcase 2015

Alia silver mermaid skirt

This beautiful silver costume is a creation by Alia. She created the mermaid skirt, arm bands, and the Turkish vest, and altered the bra straps and tightened the belt.

Alia blue costume 1
Alia blue costume 2

This is another creation by Alia. She purchased an inexpensive set of navy blue costume, and to add modesty, she added a lovely underskirt (decorated with curly lettuce hem), modesty panel and a sparkly coverup! Great example of altering an inexpensive costume into a custom costume 🙂

Andreana blue mermaid skirt and shrug

Andreana created this gorgeous blue and silver costume. For the skirt and shrug, she used the mermaid skirt pattern and the shrug tutorial. Love how perfectly fitting her costume looks! She shares an important tip: “Measuring along the curves of your body is the key to getting that perfect fit for the mermaid skirt.” 🙂

Kelli mermaid skirt

Kelli is a talented lady whose creations always amaze me! This is her latest creation. She said she used this mermaid skirt pattern 4-5 times this year – I’m fluttered 🙂 And it looks great on her!

Joanne Belly dancer ornaments

These lovely festive belly dancer ornaments were created by Joanne. She used doilies with poinsettia prints on them. So clever 🙂

Bente ornaments
Bente Black Costume

Bente created this black costume and belly dancer ornaments. I like the minimalistic and elegant design of the costume.

If you want to see more photos of creations by Sparkly Belly readers, check out Sparkly Belly’s Facebook group!

Also, there was a very, very interesting discussion about why we belly dance on the Facebook group. It’s quite inspirational, and makes me feel so happy that we found belly dancing and fortunate to be part of this community.

If you are wondering where to even start making your own costumes, join me in my free course, Belly Dance Costume Making 101. It will give you a good introduction to start making costumes that are tailored to your size 🙂

I hope you enjoyed the showcase, and enjoy the rest of the holidays. In the new year, I’ll be back with a tutorial I’ve wanted to do for a long time…. So stay tuned! 😀

Thanks for reading, and keep sparkling!
